Watendlath
Watendlath, which is owned by the National Trust and sits high between the Borrowdale and Thirlmere valleys, is a group of houses and a tarn.
Watendlath Tarn was given to the National Trust by Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Louise, in memory of her brother, King Edward VII. This tarn, which is approximately seven acres in size and about fifty six feet deep, is fed by Blea Tarn Gill, which is around seven hundred feet above Watendlath Tarn. Watendlath Tarn then flows into the beck of the same name, feeds Lodore Falls and eventually ends up in Derwent Water. This tarn is stocked with brown trout and rainbow trout.
