During the winter months of December to March the Lake District National Park authority has two Fell Top Assessors who climb Helvellyn daily to check the weather conditions at the summit. Their daily reports, which are vitally important for people who wish to go hill walking or climbing in winter, are put on Weatherline. These reports are available either on the internet, at local shops, tourist information centre or by telephone.
