This information centre, which hosts interesting displays on the history, geology and geography of the area, also provides maps, selection of books, guides, walks and programmes of events for the tourist. Most of the cottages in this hamlet were originally built to house the quarry workers who were employed at the Honister Slate Mine.
The Lakeland Hunt gathers twice a year at Seatoller, one is organised by the Trevalyan family and the other by members of the Trinity College in Cambridge. However, no wildlife is involved in these hunts as the riders race each other, or on occasion, local fell runners compete as the hares. Seatoller offers a number of accommodation establishments as well as camping facilities.
