Orrest Cottage is a cozy terraced cottage with a Visit Britain 3 Star award. Being on the edge of Windermere village makes it an ideal location to explore the Lake District.

Our priority is to create a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere. A fresh fruit salad and cereals followed by full English breakfast with Cumberland sausage is a great way to start the morning before an active day in Lakeland. We have 3 guest en-suite double rooms all decorated with a contemporary feel. Wifi access, complimentary beverages and toiletries, TV’s and a hairdryer are provided to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

We are very easy to find being located on the main road just 3 minutes walk from Windermere Railway station, Bus stop and Windermere village. In the village you find a variety of shops and restaurants of all tastes. Across the road is the start of Wainwright’s Orrest head walk which has outstanding views of Lake Windermere and the mountains beyond. Bowness and the Lake is just a 25 minute walk away.

Lake Windermere offers cruises either north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside where you can visit the aquarium or take a steam train ride. Hill Top, Dove Cottage and the pretty villages of Grasmere, Hawkshead and Coniston are all within 30 mins drive away. There are walks for all abilities all over Lakeland. We provide a selection of books with local walks for you to borrow.
