Grisedale Tarn
Grisedale Tarn, which has an altitude of approximately 1,770 feet and which is approximately 110 feet deep, lies between Fairfield and Dollywagon Pike in the Lake District, Cumbria. This, apparently, is the legendary resting place of the crown of the Kingdom of Cumbria. The soldiers of the last king, Dunmail, carried the crown here in 945 after he was killed in battle with the combined forces of the English and Scottish kings.
This tarn, which flows into Ullswater to the north east and which picks up all the rainfall from the eastern face of Dollywagon Pike, holds perch, eels and brown trout.
