Grasmere

Connected by the A591 northwards over Dunmail Raise to the vale of Keswick and southwards to Ambleside, was made popular by one of the Lake Poets William Wordsworth who lived here in Dove Cottage. To the south of the village is Grasmere Lake, around which there are some scenic gentle walks. However, because Grasmere is centrally located, Scafell Pike, Helvellyn, Skiddaw and the Langdale Pikes offer a greater challenge.
