Both Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey are associated with Beatrix Potter. One of her favourite walks in Far Sawrey was Cuckoo-Brow, this is evident from her book “The Fairy Caravan”.
Another place of interest in the village is St Peter’s Church, this large Victorian Church, which was designed by Robert Brass, was completed in 1869. As servants were expected to attend church with their families, this church was built to seat around 400 people, however, some of the pews have since been removed. St Peter’s Church has various stained glass windows that are well worth looking at.
