Even though it only has an elevation of 352 metres it offers superbviews of the Cumbrian coast from the Ravenglass estuary in the south tothe Solway Firth and across to Scotland in the north. To the west theIsle of Man can clearly be seen and the view to the east extend to thehigh peaks of Pillar and Sca Fell Pike.

Once a climber has reached the summit, it is common practice toplace a rock on the rock pile “cairn” to represent that they havereached the top of the fell. However, this is also done due to the factthat Dent Fell is only a few metres short of being a mountain and therefore by adding rocks to the cairn makes it into a mountain to some, however, it is still classed as a fell.
