Towns, Villages & Hamlets of the Lake District
In and around the beautiful scenic Lake District there are numerous towns, villages and hamlets. Hamlets are usually a rural settlement that is too small to be considered a village, however, many of these hamlets are situated amidst stunning Lakeland landscapes. Traditionally a hamlet was defined as a village which does not have it’s own church and which belongs to another village or town’s parish.
Many of the villages within The Lakes are tourist hot spots during the summer months, however, there are many secluded villages with equally spectacular scenery and attractions. Holiday accommodation of all types and for every pocket can be found in almost any town or village for your relaxing Lakeland experience.
