Blenheim Lodge Guest House Bowness on Windermere

Blenheim Lodge is a typical former gentleman’s residence harking back to the old days. As befits a gentleman’s residence, it offers some phenomenal views of Lake Windermere to the hills beyond from it privileged position at the top of Brantfell Road in Bowness on Windermere. Hidden at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac within a residential area, Blenheim Lodge nestles against countryside with woodland and fields. Guests will hear birds singing in the quiet of the day, perhaps owls hooting at night, and may even catch a glimpse of pheasant in our back yard or wild deer in the fields or our car park!

Our guests have commented that Blenheim Lodge ‘feels like a million miles away,’ yet our bed and breakfast is only 5-10 minutes’ walk to the centre of Bowness on Windermere, Lake Windermere, and the pier. Here, in the centre of this pretty village, guests will find the usual amenities, such as restaurants, pubs, banks, shops, post office, hairdressers, and so on. Local attractions include The World of Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Windermere Lake Cruises. We can also arrange for guests to be picked up from our Bed and Breakfast for various full or half-day tours.

Blenheim Lodge is very conveniently situated for walkers of The Dalesway Walk, as our guest house is the first one in Bowness from The Dalesway Foot Path. Look right as you start to descend the path and there we are! We even have outside taps for dirty boots and a drying room for damp gear! For walkers who enjoy learning more about the areas they walk and who wish to explore other Lakeland areas, we can help to arrange for a professional guide who will tailor make a walk or more with you! We will even arrange for him to pick you up from our guest house and bring you back! Guests who enjoy fishing may also take advantage of the two corporate fishing permits we can offer on a first come first served basis. If you love golf, then let us arrange for tee times for you at Windermere Golf Club, just one mile from us!

Guests who wish to explore Lakeland by personal or public transport will find that Blenheim Lodge is centrally located in South Central Lakeland, with most towns and villages within 5-45 minutes’ drive. For example, Ambleside is only 5 miles from the guest house, and Grasmere (famous for its gingerbread) is only 10 miles away.

With so much to see and do, Blenheim Lodge is an ideal place to come back to for a good rest: we offer a friendly ‘home away from home’ for that quiet relaxing break! There is a comfortable guest lounge with spectacular Lake views, where you can sit and relax. Clean, attractive bedrooms, many with gorgeous Lake Windermere views, and most furnished with antiques feature essential comforts: en-suite or private facilities, hospitality trays and TVs. We use quality bedding and most beds have pocket sprung mattresses – which one guest has likened to ‘sleeping on a cloud’ – to promote a good night’s sleep. Thick luxury bath sheets and hand towels are placed in each bedroom.

So, come stay with us for a refreshing break! Close to town but tucked away from the traffic and crowds, Blenheim Lodge offers the ideal location for a short or longer holiday to re-charge your batteries. Leave the hustle and bustle behind when you walk or drive up Brantfell Road to our guest house after a hard day’s enjoyment, and rest up! In the morning, wake up to birdsong and enjoy a delicious breakfast cooked to order. We only use local handmade bacon and sausages for freshness and authenticity. Eggs and milk are also delivered fresh each day from the local dairy. If you are vegetarian, we can offer various choices from our breakfast menu.

Be enticed and come enjoy a lovely break at our AA 4-star bed and breakfast guest house. We look forward to welcoming YOU!
