The Baddeley Clock
This clock tower marks the division between Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. It was built as a memorial to M J B Baddeley (1843 – 1906) who wrote a series of well regarded guidebooks. Mountford John Byrde Baddeley was the first writer of a walker’s guide from the new Windermere. The stone inscription ont he clock tower reads To preserve the memory of Mountford John Byrde Baddeley The Thorough Guide erected by public subscription from friends and admires in all parts of the British Isles.
