High Stile, which is a mountain in the western part of the Lake District, lies between the valleys of Buttermere and Ennerdale.

With an elevation of 807 metres it is England’s eleventh highest mountain and forms part of a range of fells, which extend north west from Great Gable towards Loweswater, and together with it’s satellites, Red Pike and High Crag, forms a trio of fells which overlook the lake and village of Buttermere.
The highlight of reaching the summit of High Stile is the extensive views of the North Western Fells across the Buttermere valley together with the view of Ennerdale Water and Crummock Water. Interestingly, near the shore of Buttermere are the remains of a small copper mine which was worked from 1569 to 1570 and again in the 1820’s.
