Waterhead
Waterhead, which is situated at the northern end of Lake Windermere in the Lake District, is a lakeside addition to Ambleside which is approximately a mile away.
|
Around this bay are houses, hotels, self catering accommodation, tourist shops, self drive and rowing boats for hire, cafes as well as places selling food for you to feed the ducks and swans. From this bay there are also impressive views of the Langdale Pikes across the lake.
Windermere Lake Cruises offer steamers and launches which sail daily throughout the year from this bay to Bowness on Windermere and Lakeside, which is at the southern end of Lake Windermere. A short walk north of Waterhead is Borrans Park in which you can enjoy a picnic or examine the remains of the Roman Fort of Galava.
