St Peter's Church (Far Sawery)

St Peters Church, which is within the small hamlet of Far Sawrey which lies between the town of Hawkshead and Lake Windermere on the B5285, is a large Victorian Church. This church, which was designed by Robert Brass, was completed in 1869.

Around this time many large houses were being built in the area, and as servants were expected to attend church with their employers, the church was built to comfortably seat approximately 400 people. However, a few pews have since been removed. This church, which has beautifully stained glass windows, also has an impressive organ that was installed by the London firm of Gray and Davison in 1875. Further information describing the history and contents of the church is available from within the church.
