Probably the gateway to the Lake District National Park, with the village of Windermere the first to greet you on your visit, Bowness on Windermere the popular tourist hot spot for Bank holiday weekends is just over a mile down the road.

The Langdale Valley, which consists of Little Langdale and Great Langdale in The Lakes, offers breathtaking mountain views together with the tarns, waterfalls and gills.

Other major tourism towns include Ambleside and Grasmere the home of William Wordsworth further North with Coniston and Hawkshead to the West of Claife Heights and Grizedale Forest one of the many visitor friendly forests in the area.
