The summit of Seathwaite Fell is complicated as according to the Ordnance Survey maps the highest point at 632 metres is Great Slack, this stands near the centre of the fell. However, Alfred Wainwright named the peaked summit at the northern end, with an elevation of 601 metres as the summit, although he did acknowledge that it wasn't the highest point.

However, there is a further third summit to the south, with an elevation of 631 metres and named Seathwaite Fell South Top. This therefore reduces Wainwright's summit to third place. Both Wainwright's summit and Great Slack have small cairns and great views northwards, however, it is only Wainwright's summit which shows the foreground of upper Borrowdale. The view to the south is of the cliffs of Great End. Seathwaite Fell, which is normally climbed from the hamlet of Seathwaite, is a northern ridge of Great End in the Scafells.
