Pillar mountain
Pillar, which is a mountain in the western part of the Lakes in England, is situated between the valleys of Ennerdale to the north and Wasdale to the south and is the tallest point of the Pillar group, which consists of a dozen fells surrounding it. This fell, which at a height of 892 metres, is the eighth highest of the Lake District mountains.

Most routes up Pillar are very steep and would only be suitable for the sure footed. However, the most popular ascent is from Wasdale Head. The summit, which is surprisingly wide and grassy, has excellent views of all the major fells, except the Coniston range. Loweswater, Ennerdale Water and Burnmoor Tarn can also be seen from this summit.
