Oakbank House Hotel is the only AA 5 Star rated guest house in Bowness on Windermere. Most rooms enjoy superb views over Lake Windermere and the Langdale mountains.
Situated in the centre of Bowness and one mile from the village of Windermere and four miles from Ambleside. We have private parking and while you stay we provide free leisure facilities with a pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and mini-gym.
Bowness on Windermere is the heart of the Lake District and is centrally located for visitors wishing to tour and see the various sites and locations throughout the lakes. Whether it’s the mountains of the Langdale Valley that inspired Wainright or the rolling countryside that inspired Beatrix Potter Oakbank House provides the ideal centre and base for walkers and leisure visitors alike.
Bowness on Windermere offers the visitor over thirty different places to eat so choice is your only problem. Italian, Thai, French, Indian, Chinese, Spanish and British fayre is on offer and many of the local restaurants boast award winning chefs and even Michelin stars to their name.
Oakbank House is a beautiful large Victorian house that has retained much of it’s original charm and character with many original features combined with a modern touch of luxury. The bedrooms are fully equipped with flat screen TVs that provide Freeview channels (June 2009) and eight of the rooms have superb lake views. We have four superior rooms that are larger and have bath and showers in the en-suite bathrooms. All our rooms are doubles so we are the perfect location for couples. Our guest lounge and dining room overlook Lake Windermere.
