Lindale

Lindale in Cartmel or Lindale as it is known is a village north of Grange over Sands in Cumbria. Lindale, which was traditionally a farming village, is situated near the A590 road and therefore has seen a growth in the number of commuters who now live here.

Lindale, which has also become a centre for car showrooms, has missed out on the local tourist boom as nearby Grange over Sands developed into a seaside resort and villages like Windermere prospered from it's location within The Lakes.

John Wilkinson, who was Lindale's most famous resident, was an ironworker and inventor who lived here from 1750. There is a large obelisk which stands in the village as a memorial to him.
