Details

Kendal Museum, which is situated in the market town of Kendal on the edge of The Lakes, was founded in 1796 and is owned and managed by South Lakeland District Council. Here you will find fascinating collections, which include local archaelogy, history, geology and natural history collections from around the globe. All the galleries are designed to involve rather than simply explain.

The famous guide book author and fellwalker, Alfred Wainwright, gave up his spare time for thirty years to look after the collections. There is an interesting Wainwright display which tells the story of our hero.
