High Grassings is a unique country house B&B located in the heart of the Lake district national park, close to Tarn Hows and a short walk from the Drunken Duck Inn. The house benefits from a over 40 acres of woodland and high fell all accessible to visitors, plus outstanding views of the surrounding mountains.
We offer 4 luxury double rooms, all ensuite. The Barn Suite benefits from a further double bed, wet room and a private outdoor terrace, ideal for families needing a little extra space. Breakfast produce are sourced locally from artisan breads to organic sausages and fresh fruits. We also offer a flexible breakfast menu if required.
We are located between Ambleside (2 miles) and Hawkshead Village (1 mile). By car from Ambleside head for Hawkshead. After 1 mile take the right turn signposted Tarn Hows. After 1/2 mile you will pass the Drunken Duck Inn on the right hand side and after another 1/2 mile you will see High Grassing on the right hand side.
Local attractions include Tarn Hows, great for short walks, Tilberthwaite forge quarry, Langdale Valley and the langdale pikes for the more serious walkers. The drunken Duck for fine dining and Hawkshead village for tradintional pub fair. Far Sawrey for Beatrix Potter and chesters cafe and shop, Skelwith Bridge, for lunch and shopping.
