The Furness Fells

The Furness Fells, which are mountains and hills in the Furness region of Cumbria and south of the Lake District, were historically part of Lancashire. These fells have one tarn, which is the third largest tarn in The Lakes, called Seathwaite Tarn.

These fells are separated from the Scafell and Bow Fell mountains to the north by Wrynose Pass. Coniston Old Man, with an elevation of approximately 2634 feet high and which lies to the west of Coniston village and Coniston Water, has the highest summit in the group.

The Furness Fells can be ascended from: Seathwaite in the Duddon Valley, Coniston village or Wrynose Pass.
