The Lake District has some of the best visitor forests in England, many of the forests in the National Park have visitor centres which provide full details on what you can expect to find and do while visiting them, from mountain bike hire to wildlife studies.

There are plenty of car parks, many of which are National Trust owned, on the edges of the forests each providing easy access to the many walks and footpaths on offer, local tourist info centres can provide you with walking maps and books.
