Originally a beautiful Victorian family home, Fair Rigg is now a four star rated bed and breakfast guest house, with awards from both the A.A. and Tourist Board.
The guesthouse provides spacious accommodation with superb views of Lake Windermere and fells. We have six lovely en-suite bedrooms, 2 double, 3 kingsize (one on the ground floor) and 1 twin, refurbished to a very high standard in a mix of antique, reproduction and contemporary furnishing.
There is a wide range of attractions and amenities on the doorstep without being amidst the hustle and bustle. Why not leave your car in our car park and enjoy some of our walks through the beautiful countryside that surrounds us. A short (500 yards) walk down the hill brings you to the shore of Lake Windermere and the Hawkshead car/passenger ferry taking you to Beatrix Potter’s house at Hill Top, Near Sawrey.
In Bowness itself (10-15 minutes walk) there is the terminal for Windermere Lake Cruises, which operate all year round, with trips of varying lengths including the town of Ambleside at the head of the lake. There is also an abundance of fine restaurants, bars and shops. Close by to Fair Rigg there is the spectacular Blackwell Arts and Crafts House.
