Clappersgate
Clappersgate, which is a village which straddles the bank of the River Brathay, is located between Ambleside and Skelwith Bridge on the A593 in the Lake District, Cumbria. The River Brathay is popular with canoeists between Clappersgate and Skelwith Bridge. This picturesque village is ideal as a central base to explore the rest of the Lake District.

The villages of Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Langdale Valley, Grasmere and Coniston, to name just a few, are all within a short drive from Clappersgate. Brathay Hall, which is an 18th century mansion, is now called the Brathay Education Centre which has a fully licensed bar and offers a wide variety of accommodation.
