Bowness Bay

Bowness Bay, which is in Bowness on Windermere, is where you will find Bowness Pier, The Glebe, Cockshott Point and Windermere car ferry. Bowness Pier is the home of Windermere Lake Cruises, who offer cruises up and down Lake Windermere. The Glebe is where occasional festivals and fairs are held as well as offering shops, restaurants and cafes. Local facilities that are available on The Glebe include mini golf, crazy golf and tennis.

Cockshott Point, which is owned and maintained by the National Trust, is a wooded field on the shore of Lake Windermere, which is extremely popular with tourists. The path through Cockshott Point, which goes very close to the lake shore, is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are also a few bench seats along the path, which look out to Lake Windermere, this is also a popular picnic spot with families.

Windermere car ferry, which connects Bowness Bay to the western shore of Lake Windermere, makes towns like Near Sawrey, Far Sawrey and Hawkshead easy to reach. They also cater for motorbikes, bicycles and foot passengers - many of whom want to walk around Claife Heights.
