Bampton
Bampton, which is a small hamlet situated in the Lowther valley, located approximately three and a half miles north west of Shap. Haweswater Beck, which flows from Haweswater reservoir, joins the River Lowther at Bampton.

This little hamlet, which serves the needs of the local villages and surrounding farming community, has a post office, a tearoom and a 17th century pub. This pub is perfectly situated for those doing the Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk.
